13.1 baby

Saturday I completed my first ever half marathon! It was so much fun and I'm looking forward to another one! The course was relatively easy with a few killer hills. Mentally it was super hard but I wouldn't trade it. It was one of the first things I have ever worked so hard for just because I wanted too! #accomplished Mile 8-13 were the hardest because my knees and calves were on FIRE! I seriously could not have done it without the Lord and without my friend Katy's dad. We ran together from mile 4 or 5 to the finish! He kept my pace going and just when I thought I was going to give up he passed me and said come on! I Dont think we could have done so well without each other. My goal was 2.5 hours and I met it, well with 58 seconds ha!!
Sunday, I was so so sore. Like Icy Hot is my new perfume and walking down the stairs backwards is easier than forwards. Today I am a little better but still not 100%!

Warning: Picture OverLoad.

Froomi (Friend/roomie) Love! Beth mad us these cutie signs and rode them around on her bike!

not hardcore, unless you live hardcore.

this is our lets get this race started face.
This is where I was thinking... AHHHH what if i have to take a slam in the middle of my run! TMI?
No worries, i was fine :)

and we did it!

race tat. I may or may not still have it on.....

WHOOP WHOOP!!!

So thankful for a sweet fiance' that supports me and my endeavors.

turkey trottin'

In the midst of closing out the semester and all the papers/projects I had time to do a little 5K on Thanksgiving morning with Jon Jon to burn off some calories before we ate them! I had a goal... I more than met it and I was so stoked!! All of this in preparation for my first half marathon ever on Saturday!!!! I thought the weather was going to be amazing but the low went from being like 47 to 57. Normally 57 is cool, but on race day 47 is cooler! Pray for cooler weather!!! I have a goal for the half but I really just wanna finish and not barf! I have been trying to stay hydrated but Ive been sick with a cold and it's so hard to drink when you can't breathe!!! However, I will probably cry when I cross the finish line. I have worked hard and never in my life have I worked this hard at something just because I wanted too!

look at that form.
confession: I was a chach and zoomed past all those three people because I like to savage the finish so people think I'm hardcore

im glad he humors me and does this.

first run!

Today, My roomies and I went running around some lakes for our first major run in training for our half marathon in December! We went bright and early at 6.30 and let me tell you.. .it.was.humid! We originally thought we went 3 miles and were upset because we were suppose to go four. After the run, we mapped it and WHOOP it was four!!

Also, I am well aware that I haven't blogged in a while but I moved so im trying to get use to this big city! No worries though I will tell you about the move eventually.... ha!

Bike Ride.

So remember that horrid bike ride I went on a few weeks back?!  Well, this past weekend Jon Jon and I decided to test the water again with 15 miles. I know what you are thinking, are you crazy?!?! Well, no actually I am not, but thanks for asking :) Why do you ask... well because of this puppy thats why!!!

A guy at my church rides and he found out about my incident and has been making fun of me ever since! He asked me last Wednesday if I had gotten a new inner tube for my bike yet and I told him I hadn't. I then began to tell him how eventually I wanted to just get a new bike because mine was rusted and the gears didn't work. I told him I was using it and was satisfied because that is what I had and it still got the job done. Well the next day, Thursday, his daughter-in-law called me and told me to come to her house. When I did, it was sitting on the porch! He had went out and bought me a brand new bike!! AHHHH!! I was so so excited!!!! I thanked him continuously because I was so so excited and blessed!

just riding away into the concrete!

please excuse that I look a hot mess... I just got done running 5 miles.
What can I say, I'm a busy girl!

cannonballs

So Alice' and I usually run together on friday mornings in order to get our long run in for the week! In Louisiana it is HOT! Not hot like 80 but hot like 95 with 1000 percent humidity so its like 200 degrees! Okay maybe that was dramatic but you get it. This week, we started a new tradition and it's pretty solid. Alice' has been saying we need to do it for a while now but we just haven't because we are so tired after our run but this week, we made it a priority! What is this tradition you ask.... well here it is!

Yes, we run and cannonball into the swimming pool with all of our clothes on! No worries, we make time to take off our shoes!  When we move to baton rouge, luckily our apt has a pool too so hopefully we can get our other roomie in on this lovely tradition!!
