celebration.

This past weekend, two of my lovely friends Kelli and Troy celebrated their wedding! It was so beautiful. They had the reception and the wedding in the same building, it was small cozy and perfect! I would have more pictures for you but I always feel awkward creepin photos. Their main color was plum and the guys wore bow ties and converse. I'm usually not a wedding cryer... but this one... TOTALLY did!
Kelli was a cheerleader in college and Troy was a hit on the basketball team, basically they are perfect together! Jon Jon and I always joked with them about having a double wedding, but that obv didn't happen!

Bike Ride.

So remember that horrid bike ride I went on a few weeks back?!  Well, this past weekend Jon Jon and I decided to test the water again with 15 miles. I know what you are thinking, are you crazy?!?! Well, no actually I am not, but thanks for asking :) Why do you ask... well because of this puppy thats why!!!

A guy at my church rides and he found out about my incident and has been making fun of me ever since! He asked me last Wednesday if I had gotten a new inner tube for my bike yet and I told him I hadn't. I then began to tell him how eventually I wanted to just get a new bike because mine was rusted and the gears didn't work. I told him I was using it and was satisfied because that is what I had and it still got the job done. Well the next day, Thursday, his daughter-in-law called me and told me to come to her house. When I did, it was sitting on the porch! He had went out and bought me a brand new bike!! AHHHH!! I was so so excited!!!! I thanked him continuously because I was so so excited and blessed!

just riding away into the concrete!

please excuse that I look a hot mess... I just got done running 5 miles.
What can I say, I'm a busy girl!

wedding overload

Jon Jon and I have officially decided on a wedding date, June 9 2012! yes you are ALL invited, only if you bring your dancin shoes! ;) Last night we started budgeting... and by started I mean we talked about it got annoyed then quit!  Today in order to get over myself, i found all these cute wedding options on the Knot and Pintrest. Our colors are Glacier (teal) and Yellow. The girls dresses will be glacier and a lot of the decor will be yellow! The guys will wear fitted khakis with a white button up and some sort of tie thing, hopefully we can find a glacier one but if it has to be yellow I won't hate it! Oh, and Burlap will def be involved! With all that said... here are some jams....

such a cute DIY project!

we would Obv use lemons :)

love this tie.. love this manflower.

favorite

this is really weird but i love it!

this is a cd for the wedding favor of the couples fav songs, jon jon and i thought about doing it but we changed our minds. I still love it though

TOTALLY obsessed with this. How cute would it be to get these for our guest to wear during the wedding, but in our colors!

a little dramatic for me, but i still think its cool.

love love these... is it okay for the manflower and girl flower to be different?

hello jam square cake.

Urban Dictionary.

Lately this week I have been obsessed with Urban Dictionary. For those of you who do not know what it is, it's a dictionary full of urban words.. obv. Today I will give you funny words I found.

FACEBOOK MINUTE: (n) an elongated and obscure period of time spent distracted on Facebook when the original intent was to merely check your messages.

UGLY CRY: A type of crying that can feel really good and really bad at the same time. The ugly cry can occur after a severe tragedy in one's life, or simply for no reason at all. You know you're doing the ugly cry when you lose COMPLETE CONTROL of all of the muscles in your face, start heaving and making awkward sounds (even though you are trying really hard to be silent), and start leaking fluids from every opening on your face from your hairline to your chin (yes, this includes the mouth). Without a doubt, by the time you are through with your ugly cry episode (if it was genuine) it will look as though you are a homeless person with pink eye who got punched a few times in the face and was hit my a monsoon; this is completely normal (and generally the time to call up a good friend).

UNREQUITED BESTIES: When one person thinks you are best friends, but you in turn consider another to be your best friend. This chain can involve many until two agree upon their mutual bestiship.

BEEF WALK: Going outside or away from the group in order to fart with less consequence.

you can even look up your name!! Seriously it can do something for your self-esteem.
For example here is some stuff that comes up for my name!

SHANNON:
One of the most beautiful people you will ever meet.

Usually Irish, most are brunettes or redheads and have stunning green or blue eyes.
If you ever meet a green eye'd Shannon, she will always be there and will love you more than her heart can bear.
If you meet a blue eye'd Shannon, she will be a listener and mostly a sports player.
              (i have green eyes :))

The coolest person in the world.

no, i dont make this stuff up!!
What's Your name definition?

road trippin

This past weekend I went down to the Bayou in Thibodaux, La with 2 of my best friends Melissa and Megan. Melissa is from there and she showed us EVERYTHING, including her parking spot at her high school! It was such a blast! Saturday we went to Baton Rouge because her husband had an Adventure Race! We took advantage of the day and went shopping and eating! Of course I convinced them to go to my favorite Izzo's Illegal Burrito and Yogurtland. #theydidnthateit  Melis and Megan also went to Anthropologie for the first time ever! Their faces lit up as soon as we walked in the building! We spent TONS of time with her lovely family and most importantly ate a ridiculous amount of food!
In Thibodaux, is the Laurel Valley Slave quarters amongst tons and tons of sugar cane fields. It's actual slave houses and it was so cool/sad to see. The homes were small and there is tons of land, it reminded me why I have such a heart for modern day slavery/human trafficking.

church.

outhouse that has been tipped over.
house.
It looks like one house but there are two doors which makes it two houses the size of one house.

Lis INSISTED on us eating sugar cane.
note: it's not ready until the fall
note: it was gross

on this trip, I learned Lis is a former piano player.
also, she has NO clue i took this. :)

this is the most ultimate jam candle from Anthro.
note: i accept gifts.

So, remember how Friday I wrote the post about Nutella Cupcakes?!?!?!!! Well, they were put to good use!! I had been planning this for about a month or so, but I wanted to finish my summer class before I did it because I knew it would take some time!
Wanna know what I did with them?! Well, I made them and used them as a tool to ask my bridesmaids to be bridesmaids! It was so much fun! My sister and I made them and delivered them!! I put little flags in them that said Bridesmaid? Flowergirl? Maid of Honor? Matron of Honor? and it was such a hit!!
No worries, I dont really know how the roles of a matron and maid differ but I knew I wanted them both to be there for EVERYTHING! I also knew one is married and the other isn't so it only made sense!

Nutella Cupcakes

Yesterday I made these beauties. You SERIOUSLY must make them.... it's really a must they are so so so good!!!

She seriously has TONS of delicious cupcake recipes, well im not sure if they are all delicious because these are the only ones I've made but they all look yummy!!

Ingredients:
Devil’s Food Cake Mix
3 eggs
½ cup oil
¼ cup milk
½ cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream
24 teaspoons Nutella
      (1 per cupcake)

Nutella Buttercream:
¾  cup Nutella
¼ cup butter, softened
1 ½ -2 ½ cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3-4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Directions:

1.     Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line 24 muffins tins.
2.    In a large bowl, whisk eggs, oil, milk, water and vanilla.
3.    Sift in cake mix and stir in sour cream.
4.    Fill cupcake liners ¾ full and then place a teaspoon of Nutella on top of each one.  Using a toothpick, swirl the Nutella into the batter.
5.    Bake for 14-18 minutes or until the sides spring back.  (The tops will stay gooey because of the Nutella.)
6.   Remove the cupcakes from the oven and place directly into airtight containers so seal in moisture.
7.    Buttercream: Beat the Nutella and butter for 5 minutes.  Add vanilla, then alternate between adding powdered sugar and heavy whipping cream.  Taste the buttercream until you reach your desired sweetness.  You may need to refrigerate the buttercream before piping it onto cooled cupcakes.

bribery.

My niece was born about a year and half ago, My senior year of college. Since then, i have been known as Aunt Paper because at the time of her birth i had one gillion papers to write. Also, I would watch her and she would "help" me write the paper. ( i had a cool photo of it but i lost it, #fail)  Well now, in my first year of grad school things have not changed much. Only now she is not so willing to help so I have to bribe her.
see, it's really easy! All it takes is a simple sno cone/ball (shaved ice and liquid flavoring in a cup, for those of you who do not have them).  Bribery is totally okay right?! I mean positive and negative reinforcement?!

comic nails

On Saturday I took the final for my very first grad school class, ever. Yea a final on a saturday... I hate it just as much as you do. I've seriously never heard of such a thing, but it happens. Well after that crucial final Alice' and I painted our nails.

yes, I realize I'm horrible at painting nails, but trust me they look better after i shower and the excess comes off. It would also probably be better if I had more nail. #hatelongnails Notice these nails aren't just like your everyday painted nails. Why yes, they do have COMICS on them!! Our friend did her nails with road maps and we wanted to try it so we did.

here is how:
1. paint nails
2. let dry, completely.
3. once dry dip nail in rubbing alcohol for a second.
4. pull nail out and put newspaper on for about thirty seconds and pull off.
5. repeat on other nine nails.
6. once complete paint nails with a clear coat ( i didnt do that part and the comics rubbed off)
7. Show off your FABULOUS nails to your pals!!

You can use whatever you want but it cant be glossy paper it MUST be that shabby newspaper paper!

enjoy!

cannonballs

So Alice' and I usually run together on friday mornings in order to get our long run in for the week! In Louisiana it is HOT! Not hot like 80 but hot like 95 with 1000 percent humidity so its like 200 degrees! Okay maybe that was dramatic but you get it. This week, we started a new tradition and it's pretty solid. Alice' has been saying we need to do it for a while now but we just haven't because we are so tired after our run but this week, we made it a priority! What is this tradition you ask.... well here it is!

Yes, we run and cannonball into the swimming pool with all of our clothes on! No worries, we make time to take off our shoes!  When we move to baton rouge, luckily our apt has a pool too so hopefully we can get our other roomie in on this lovely tradition!!

cow appreciation day.

Today Alice' and I decided we needed free food in the midst of studying for our final. What better way to do that than to dress like a cow and get free chicken for Cow Appreciation Day at Chick Fil A!!! It's pretty much one of our favorite places!
Today, being at CFA was probably one of the most hilarious things ever!!

dressing like a cow was easy and cost a whole 2 dollars!

our inspiration

this was TOTALLY worth it

let me tell you bout my best friend...

bike ride gone bad.

the following happened monday. First you need to know last week Jon Jon and I went on a 15 mile bike ride together.

Monday.....
Me: jon jon, you wanna go for a bike ride
Jon Jon: Sure, just let me know when you get back from work.
a few hours later at about 11:00
Me: Im back from work, wanna go now?
Jon Jon: sure come over.
so, about 11:15 we embark on our adventure.
Me(in the midst of our ride): it would be so cool if we went 20 miles today
Jon Jon: yes, it would
Me: lets do it!
Jon Jon: okay.

Well, we only really did about seventeen or so miles.

on the way back, when there are about 4 or so miles left I feel the back of my bike swerving. I thought to myself.. Self: this CANT be good. I hesitantly turned around and saw a GIGANTIC flat tire.

Yeah, i know what you are thinking... sucks to be you. Yes, Yes it did.

Jon Jon was nice enough to walk with me. So walked our bikes back to Jon Jons apt about 4 or so miles away.

Now you are thinking. Idiot, why didnt you call someone to come pick you up. Well.. the only person we knew with a truck lives about 15 minutes away and moves slow so by the time they would have arrived it would have been pointless.

2:30 we arrive back at Jon Jons. Yes, please remember that our ride started around 11:15.
also, please know we hadn't eaten lunch and only brought a little thing of water to share. Please know it was about 95 degrees that day. We were MISERABLE!

In the end, we made it back.. showered and ate lupper (lunch and supper) with our friends. By ate i totally mean they made fun of us and watched us eat because they had eaten 37 hours ago #dramatic

Since none of that was planned I didnt wear sunscreen. Fact: i have EXTREMELY sun sensitive skin.
Yes, this is the sunburn i received from being in the sun for the bike ride. #ouch

I originally thought maybe this day would be funny the next day but then this puppy showed up. No worries its my entire arm this red.

Yes, this is the massive bruise I got from my pedal beating my calf.

I totally understand if you are jealous of the way I spent my 4th of July.
Plus side of the day: spent all of it with Jon Jon.
